Independent Investigation into East Kent Maternity Services

Following concerns about the death of a number of babies in recent years, Nadine Dorries MP, Minister for Patient Safety, announced in Parliament that an independent investigation would be held in East Kent.
Dr Bill Kirkup was appointed to lead an Independent Investigation into services provided by East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Kirkup has previously led a number of independent investigations, including into Morecambe Bay maternity services.
